Discover the Maldives
A paradise of turquoise waters, white-sand beaches, and unparalleled luxury
Paradise on Earth
The Maldives is a tropical nation in the Indian Ocean composed of 26 ring-shaped atolls, which are made up of more than 1,000 coral islands. Only 200 of these islands are inhabited, with many developed as exclusive resort islands that offer the ultimate in tropical luxury, privacy, and natural beauty.

Geography & Climate
Located southwest of Sri Lanka and India, the Maldives spans across the equator with atolls stretching 800 kilometers north to south.
As one of the world's most geographically dispersed sovereign states, the Maldives is also the smallest Asian country by land area and population.
The islands enjoy a tropical monsoon climate with temperatures ranging from 24°C to 33°C (75°F to 91°F) year-round. The dry season runs from November to April, while the wet season spans May to October.
Getting There
The main international gateway is Velana International Airport in Malé. Many international airlines operate direct flights from major cities in Europe, Asia, and the Middle East.
After arriving in Malé, transfers to resorts are typically by speedboat (for closer islands, 30-45 minutes) or seaplane (for distant atolls, 30-60 minutes).
Best Time to Visit
The peak tourist season runs from December to April during the dry northeast monsoon season, offering sunny days, low humidity, and excellent visibility for diving and snorkeling.
May to November sees occasional rain showers, but still plenty of sunshine. This period offers better deals and fewer crowds.
Food & Cuisine
Maldivian cuisine features fresh seafood, coconut, and rice, influenced by Indian and Sri Lankan flavors. Traditional dishes include mas huni (tuna with coconut) and garudhiya (fish soup).
Luxury resorts offer world-class dining experiences with international cuisines, celebrity chef restaurants, and unique dining settings like underwater restaurants.
Culture & Etiquette
The Maldives is a Muslim country with a rich cultural heritage. While resort islands operate with relaxed rules, visitors should respect local customs when visiting inhabited islands.
On local islands, modest dress is appreciated (shoulders and knees covered), and alcohol is prohibited. The local language is Dhivehi, but English is widely spoken in tourist areas.

Conservation & Sustainability
Protecting the fragile paradise for future generations
The Maldives faces significant environmental challenges, including rising sea levels due to climate change, coral bleaching, and waste management issues. As one of the world's lowest-lying countries, with an average ground elevation of just 1.5 meters above sea level, the threat is existential.
Many resorts have implemented comprehensive sustainability programs, including coral restoration projects, marine biology centers, solar power, water conservation, and plastic reduction initiatives.
As a visitor, you can contribute by choosing eco-conscious resorts, participating in conservation activities, avoiding single-use plastics, and respecting marine life and coral reefs during water activities.
